Rampant Vehicle Vandalism Sparks Fear In Pune City, Incidents Reported In Katraj Area
Katraj, 17th July 2023: A series of vehicle vandalism incidents has plunged Pune city into turmoil. On the night of July 15th, two separate incidents occurred in the Katraj area, resulting in the vandalization of eight to ten vehicles within the premises of a society.
The acts of vandalism were carried out due to an ongoing feud. The Bharti Vidyapeeth Police have taken swift action and apprehended five individuals in connection with the case.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Madhukar alias Appa Gyanba Bhilare (47), Akash Nanasaheb Garvade (27), Amit Uttam Bhilare (36), Firoz Hasan Sheikh (24), and Mustafa Mehboob Sheikh (21), all residents of Bhilarewadi, Katraj. The complaint was lodged by Bhimaji Bhikaji Sawant (33), who resides in Omsai Niwas, Bhilarewadi, Katraj, at the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station.
According to the complainant, Sawant had a verbal altercation with the accused individuals. In a fit of anger, Bhilare, Garvade, and Sheikh entered the premises of the Om Sai Niwas Society. They hurled abuses at Sawant and proceeded to pelt stones at two cars, an autorickshaw, a two-wheeler, and a tanker within the society premises. They further brandished weapons, including a baseball bat, creating a terrifying atmosphere.
In a separate incident, a gang in Bhilarewadi created panic among the residents of the area by waving weapons in the air on July 15th, around 10 pm. They vandalized vehicles within the society premises. Akash Garbade (28) has lodged a complaint regarding this incident at the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station.
Earlier, there was another incident of vehicle vandalism in the Taljai Colony of Sahakarnagar area, where a gang targeted 26 vehicles due to an ongoing enmity. The incident follows a recent similar occurrence in the Warje area. These incidents have left local citizens in a state of fear and concern.
