Pune, 3rd July 2025: Amid resounding chants of Mangal Murti Morya, a replica of the iconic Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati idol was ceremoniously dispatched to Singapore on Thursday, where it will be installed during a five-day Ganesh festival organized by the Maharashtra Mandal Singapore.

The arrival of the revered replica has created great excitement among the Indian community in Singapore. Prior to its departure, a ritualistic puja was performed at the Pune temple. The send-off event was attended by Sunil Rasane, president of the trust; Mahesh Suryawanshi, treasurer; idol artist Bhalchandra Deshmukh; and Rajabhau Ghodke.

The three-and-a-half-foot idol was meticulously crafted over the past month by Bhalchandra and Rajendra Deshmukh of Shri Nataraj Art in Subhashnagar.

Speaking about the initiative, Suryawanshi said, “We had earlier sent an idol to the Singapore Mandal three years ago, but it was immersed last year. Now we are sending a newly adorned idol for their devotees. This reflects our social responsibility and helps carry forward our culture and faith globally.”

Ajay Kulkarni, president of the Maharashtra Mandal Singapore, expressed his joy at being able to celebrate Ganeshotsav again with great devotion and cultural enthusiasm. Established in 1994, the Mandal has worked continuously to promote unity, harmony, and cultural awareness among the Maharashtrian community in Singapore.

“The arrival of the Dagdusheth Ganpati idol will make this festival even more memorable for our community. During the five-day celebration, there will be religious rituals, traditional dhol–tasha and lezim performances, as well as cultural programs,” Kulkarni added.
