Bengaluru, 3rd July 2025: A female employee at the Infosys campus in Electronics City was allegedly filmed by a male colleague while she was inside a women’s washroom, triggering shock and outrage across the corporate community. The incident occurred on June 30, and a formal complaint was lodged with the police on July 1.

The accused, identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali (30), was arrested by the police on Wednesday and later released on bail. He was working as a senior associate consultant at Infosys Helix, a healthcare technology division of the IT giant.

Victim Confronted Accused After Spotting Reflection
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the 35-year-old victim noticed a reflection on the cubicle door while using the washroom. Suspicious of unusual activity, she stood up to inspect, only to find a man — later identified as Mali — standing on the toilet seat of the adjacent cubicle, filming her using his mobile phone.

Shocked by the discovery, the woman immediately confronted the accused and checked his phone, where she allegedly found the recorded footage. She then alerted the company’s Human Resources (HR) department, which assisted her in approaching law enforcement.

Accused Joined Campus Just 3 Months Ago
Police officials confirmed that Mali, originally from Sangli district in Maharashtra, had moved to Bengaluru just three months ago for his role at Infosys. His mobile phone has been seized as part of the investigation, said DCP (South-East) Sarah Fathima, who is overseeing the case.

Infosys Terminates Employee, Assures Zero Tolerance
Infosys, in an official statement, confirmed that immediate action was taken against the accused.

“We are aware of this incident and have taken necessary action against the employee, who is now separated from the company,” a company spokesperson said.
“We promptly supported the complainant in filing a police complaint and continue to cooperate with law enforcement authorities during the investigation. Infosys has a zero-tolerance policy against harassment and takes every violation of our Code of Conduct seriously.”

Ongoing Investigation
Police said they are continuing to examine the device for any additional content or similar incidents and will take further legal steps based on findings. The incident has raised concerns about workplace privacy and security, especially in corporate environments where trust and professionalism are expected.

Women’s rights groups and employees have called for stricter surveillance and internal accountability to ensure such violations do not occur again.
