Retired ACP Among 5 Booked in Rs 2.4 Crore Land Scam in Pune
Pune, 19th April 2026: A case of alleged fraud involving Rs 2.40 crore has come to light in Pune, where a businessman was duped on the pretext of investment in a land deal. The Chatushrungi Police have registered an offence against five persons, including a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The complainant, Abhijit Vilas Undre (35), a resident of Manjari Khurd, has alleged that the accused lured him into investing in a 12-acre land parcel at Boraj in Khed taluka by promising high returns.
Based on his complaint, a case has been registered against retired ACP Sushil Shankarrao Kadam, Nanda Sushil Kadam, Aniket Kadam (all residents of Fergusson Road, Pune), along with Datta Kedari (resident of Boraj, Pune district) and Balasaheb R. Walunj (resident of Kamshet, Maval). Kadam had earlier served in both Pune Rural and Pune City police forces.
According to police officials, the alleged fraud took place between December 2016 and May 21, 2025. The accused reportedly told Undre that the land belonged to a Mumbai-based individual, Balkishan Gupta, and that investing in the deal would yield substantial profits.
To gain the complainant’s trust, the accused allegedly opened a fake bank account in Gupta’s name and collected Rs 50 lakh. They also persuaded Undre to transfer Rs 25 lakh via RTGS into an account of a company named Ariston Multicare in a Solapur-based bank. Additionally, Rs 30 lakh was allegedly taken through cash and bank transfers.
In another instance, the accused allegedly collected Rs 1.35 crore in cash from Undre on the pretext of executing a sale deed with Gupta.
Shockingly, the complainant has stated that the accused falsely claimed that Balkishan Gupta had died, despite him being alive, to delay the transaction. When Undre demanded a refund, he was allegedly threatened with dire consequences, including being implicated in false cases and being made to disappear.
Police said further investigation is underway.
