Road Rage In Pune: Man Beaten To Death By Two-Wheeler Riders, Search On For Accused

Mundhwa, 25th May 2022: An incident took place in the Mundhwa area when two persons killed a pedestrian by beating him to death after an argument.

 

Pune Police have registered a case against a two-wheeler rider and his accomplice in the case.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok Shankar Rao (30), a resident of Bhoiraj Society, Mundhwa. Ashok’s brother Sagar (20) has lodged a complaint at Mundhwa police station, Pune city police.

 

According to police, Ashok was a labourer. On Tuesday (May 24) morning, he left home in search of work. The incident took place while he was returning home around 7 pm. A two-wheeler hit him in front of Sai Furniture shop near Lonkar CNG pump on Mundhwa Road. Ashok questioned the young man on the two-wheeler and asked him to drive safely. The rider took the advice offensively which led to an argument. The young man on the two-wheeler and one of his companions abused Ashok and thrashed him. One of them hit him on the head with a stone.

 

Ashok’s head was injured during the beating and he fell unconscious on the road after which the biker and his companions fled from the spot.

Ashok’s brother Sagar who was walking to his workplace saw a crowd and when checked he found Ashok, who was unconscious. Soon police reached the spot and took him to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

 

Upon learning of the incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bajrang Desai and senior police inspector of Mundhwa police station Brahmanand Naikwadi went to the spot and inquired about the incident.

 

The footage taken by CCTV cameras in the area has been collected by police for further investigations. CCTV footage shows Ashok being beaten by a two-wheeler rider and one of his accomplices. A case of murder has been registered against them and a search is on for the accused, police said.
