Hinjawadi, 2nd July 2026 : A dramatic road rage incident on the busy Hinjawadi-Marunji Link Road has triggered a police investigation after a confrontation between a motorcyclist and the driver of a car allegedly escalated into a collision near Wipro Circle on Thursday morning. A video capturing parts of the incident has gone viral on social media, prompting widespread discussion over reckless driving and road safety in Pune’s IT corridor.

According to preliminary information, the incident began when an argument reportedly broke out between a motorcyclist and the driver of a white Swift Dzire bearing a Madhya Pradesh registration number while they were travelling along the Hinjawadi-Marunji Link Road. The reason behind the dispute is yet to be officially confirmed.

As the argument intensified, the confrontation allegedly turned into a chase that continued for several kilometres. Videos circulating on social media appear to show the biker following the car closely and attempting to get the driver’s attention by knocking on the side window while both vehicles were in motion.

The situation reached a critical point near Wipro Circle, where the car allegedly struck the motorcycle. The impact caused the rider to lose control of the bike before crashing into a parked vehicle on the roadside. The collision attracted the attention of commuters and passersby in the busy commercial area.

Soon after the crash, the car driver allegedly fled the spot and drove towards the Capgemini office without stopping, leading to allegations of a hit-and-run incident. Bystanders reportedly gathered at the scene, while videos of the episode quickly spread across multiple social media platforms.

Several social media posts initially claimed that the biker had sustained a serious head injury. However, police officials have clarified that, based on the information available so far, no major injuries have been reported. Authorities said the exact nature of the injuries, if any, is being verified as part of the investigation.

Police have begun examining the viral videos along with other available evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events. Officials said they are investigating the actions of both the motorcyclist and the car driver, as preliminary findings suggest that the conduct of both individuals before the collision will be taken into account.

Investigators are also expected to analyse CCTV footage from the area, speak to eyewitnesses and identify additional evidence to determine what led to the collision and whether any offences under the relevant provisions of law were committed.

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over road rage and aggressive driving on Pune’s rapidly developing IT corridor roads, particularly during peak traffic hours. Commuters have called for stricter enforcement against dangerous driving behaviour and urged motorists to resolve disputes peacefully rather than risking lives on public roads.

Police said further investigation is underway, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
