Rotary Club of Pune Lokmanyanagar Makes A Meaningful Contribution To Blind Persons
Pune, 19th June 2023: The Rotary Club has always been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at bringing joy and happiness into the lives of those in need. Recognizing the importance of lending a helping hand in various areas of support, the Rotary Club of Pune Lokmanyanagar recently organized a special program in honor of late Dr Ramchandra Datir and late Sulochana Datir.
The event took place at the auditorium of Shankar Maharaj Math, where 40 visually impaired members of Andhajan Vikas Trust received white canes and thoughtful gifts from the Datir family. Puja Datir, Rohan Datir, and Rohit Datir, representing the next generation of the Datir family, had the privilege of distributing the canes and gifts. Distinguished guests in attendance included Dr. Vijaykumar Bhor, Narayan Desai from Andhbandhav Trust, Manoj Agarwal, the President of Rotary club of pune Lokmanyanagar , as well as Rishikesh Bagde, the Secretary, and Mahesh Ghorpade, the District Officer.
Rahul Datir explained that the purpose of this event was to instill social consciousness in the younger generation, particularly those raised in America, by making them aware of the challenges faced by individuals with visual impairments and emphasizing the importance of contributing to humanity.
Additionally, an exciting announcement was made during the program—an upcoming trip called the “Kolhapur Darshan Yatra” specifically designed for the blind. Scheduled for July 8, the tour will feature visits to Ambabai and Jyotiba for spiritual exploration. The members of Andhbandhav Trust expressed their heartfelt joy and appreciation for this wonderful initiative.
