Pune, 19th September 2023: An eco-friendly idol making workshop was organised by Rtn Harsha Joshi, Literacy Director of Rotary Club of Pune Professionals, Amanora to encourage children to sculpt their own Ganpati Bappa idol.

Ahead of the Ganesh festival, RCP Professionals organised an eco-friendly idol making workshop on September 15th to encourage children to sculpt their own Ganpati Bappa idol made with ‘shadu mati’ (clay) at Jijabai School in Hadapsar.

Shadu clay idols dissolve faster than those made of regular clay. By using clay and natural materials, we can honour tradition while protecting the environment. It is environment-friendly and has a low carbon footprint. At the time of immersion, it can be immersed in a bucket of water at home wherein it returns into its clay form and can be reused for sculpting.
“This workshop was conducted for the kids of 1st grade to 4th grade. They are fast learners. They learnt how to sculpt their own eco-friendly Ganesh idol during the workshop,” said Rtn Harsha Joshi.
