Round Table India Raises Funds To Provide Ventilators Amidst The COVID Crisis
Pune, 25th May 2021: To address the matter of unavailability of ventilators with urgency, Round Table India through its chapter- Poona Riverside Round Table 105 raised funds to donate Ventilators for COVID hospitals.
“With the 2nd wave of Covid hitting hard there was an urgent need to support our stretched medical infrastructure in Pune and across”, said Masoom Bhatia, Chairman of Poona Riverside Round Table 105.
Senior Doctors at Sterling Multi Speciality hospital Dr Vikas Mandlecha and Dr Aniruddha Tongaonkar explained that Ventilators (Artificial Respiratory machines) are life-saving machines that act as lungs for any patient in a critical state. Simply put, they help one breathe properly. Each of these machines on average saves one life each week.
“In three weeks, we have managed to raise funds amounting to Rs 11,50,000 thanks to friends and family in India and overseas. On Saturday, we handed over three of these life-saving machines to Sterling multi-speciality hospital in Nigdi, Pune. We plan to take this ahead and raise more funds to donate such equipment in our rural hospitals as well”, Bhatia informed.
