RPF Pune Apprehends Chain Snatcher, Recovers Stolen Property Worth Rs 2.5 Lakhs

Pune, 13th April 2023: In a bid to ensure the safety of passengers, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Pune Division, has initiated several measures and launched campaigns with the goal of thwarting the nefarious activities of pickpockets and other criminals.
The agency is using advanced technology, such as CCTV cameras, to surveil the impacted areas, and this has led to the identification of a suspicious individual captured on camera. The RPF Pune launched a covert operation to apprehend the perpetrator shown in the footage.
The fruits of their labor came to bear on April 4, 2023, when two RPF officers, Assistant Sub-Inspector Santosh Jaibhaye and Guard Rasul Syed, while patrolling near the Dutt Temple in Pune, noticed an individual who resembled the suspect in the CCTV footage.
The officers, along with constable Vishal Mane, immediately detained him for questioning, and he identified himself as Motilal Rediappa Pawar, aged 21, hailing from Raichur district of Karnataka. Upon interrogation, he confessed to committing four cases of chain snatching at Pune Railway Station with his accomplice Devraj Krishna Shankar Pawar, aged 22, who also hails from same district.
The accused was subsequently handed over to GRP Pune for further legal action. As per records, the GRP Pune arrested the offenders and recovered the stolen goods, which included a gold chain worth Rs. 100,000, a mobile worth Rs 10,000, a gold chain worth Rs 69,300, and a gold chain worth Rs 76,000.
Under the guidance of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Pune, the above team of Inspector Pune has done a commendable job of catching the chain snatcher by using modern security equipment (CCTV), due to which cases registered in GRP Pune have been detected and Stolen passenger property worth Rs 2,55,300/- has been recovered.
