RTOs in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad to Start WhatsApp Number To Lodge Complaints Related to Cabs and Auto Rickshaw
Pune 19th Oct 2023: The Regional Transport Offices in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad are working on a whatsapp complaint helpline for citizens to lodge their complaints about cabs and auto rickshaws. One launched, the citizens will be able to register their complaints related to cabs or auto rickshaws refusing rides, overcharging, misbehaviour etc.
This whatsapp helpline number will replace the old tradition of sending complaints through e-mail or post in such matters. The commuters will be provided an option to share pictures or videos while losing their complaints with the RTO. This comes after the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) recently launched a similar initiative for the commuters.
The citizens and activists have often raised issues related to auto rickshaws not running by meter and overcharging for the rides in the city. However, only a few of them reached out to the RTO to lodge complaints via e-mail or post. The officials expect that the number of complaints might increase after the WhatsApp number is launched since WhatsApp is used by the majority of people and it is easy to send the complaint through it.
