Sandvik Asia Pledges To Support 126 Lila Girls Over 5 Years

Pune, 21st December, 2020:- Sandvik Asia signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) to support girls pursuing engineering degree in Pune. With this MoU, Sandvik Asia will be taking the total number of girls supported over 5 years to 126.

Kiran Acharya, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer, Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd signed the MoU with Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson, LPF in the of presence Firoz Poonawalla, Founder Trustee LPF, Priti Khare, CEO, LPFand Riya Khanduri, Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd.

Kiran Acharya, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer, Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd said, “It’s been five years since Sandvik has been associated with Lila Poonawalla Foundation, through Scholarships and Skill Building & Training Initiative. We feel proud to be associated with LPF’s diversity and inclusion initiative, which also is a mission of Sandvik. Through our continued commitment, we aim to educate and empower more girls.”

On this occasion, Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson, Lila Poonawalla Foundation said, “Our association with Sandvik dates back to five years and we can proudly say it is a valued relation built in the spirit of partnership for a shared cause. As we celebrate 25 years of our journey, I thank our partners like Sandvik, who continue to grow this association. We not only provide the financial support to the girls; but we have a holistic approach, wherein the girls are groomed; their confidence is enhanced; they are trained on employability skills and are ready for a career of their choice.”

Sandvik’s association with LPF dates to 2015 when the company started supporting in their initiative of enabling academically bright and financially disadvantaged girls to pursue an engineering degree. These girls have been mentored through different training programmes and industry exposure, so that they are well equipped to meet their professional and personal aspirations.
