Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Arrives in Pune Amid Devotional Fervour

Pune, 20th June 2025: Amid chants of “Dnyanoba Mauli Tukaram”, rhythmic beats of tal-mridang, vibrant flags, and rows of dindis, the sacred palkhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj set off from Alandi today, marking the beginning of its annual journey towards Pandharpur as part of the revered Ashadhi Wari.

At exactly 7:00 AM, the palkhi departed from Mauli’s ancestral home in Alandi, beginning its first leg toward Pune city. The first rest stop for the day is Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Thorale Paudka, and the palkhi will halt for the night at the Vitthal Temple in Pune.

Thousands of Warkaris, clad in traditional white attire and tulsi malas, have joined the procession, carrying the spirit of devotion and centuries-old tradition. The soulful verses of Sant Dnyaneshwar—”Avghachi sansar sukhacha karin… Jaain ge maaye taya Pandharpura…” resonated in the air, encapsulating the spiritual essence of the Wari.

The Sant Dnyaneshwar Palkhi procession, which lasts over two weeks and traverses rural Maharashtra, remains a symbol of Maharashtra’s devotional heritage, drawing lakhs of devotees from across the state and beyond.
