Pune, 27th February 2923: Ramesh Ubale, district president of the Social Justice cell of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), demanded an inquiry into the substandard work of the Satara-Pandharpur, as well as the Satara-Pune national highway. After that, the District Collector has taken note of this, immediately investigated the work, and instructed the Pune National Highway Project Director to take appropriate action.

Ubale has given information about this and also said in the statement that the work done on Satara-Pandharpur and Satara-Pune national highways has been of poor quality.

In this regard, a statement was sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Satara district officials. Before filling the highway work, there is a need to use quality gravel and gravel to strengthen the road, but due to the use of large stones and black soil by the concerned contractor, the road collapsed in some places resulting in the cement concrete cracking.

There has been a lot of corruption on this road and the concerned contractor should be blacklisted. On the one hand, concrete roads are said to last for 40-50 years, but within two-three years, the roads are cracking.

The work of the Satara-Pandharpur National Highway has been going on for about four years. While the work on this road was nearing completion, after inspection it was noticed that the road was built of poor quality and cracked in some places. It was noticed that black soil was used for filling under the concrete.

The work of both these national highways has not been done according to the plan and profile. Big stones have been placed in the filling of the road work. Stones larger than 75 mm are generally not suitable for filling. The material cut by the contractor has been used in filling the road, and the royalty of this material has not been paid.

According to all these issues, the concerned contractor should be blacklisted. There is a deadline of 30 days for this, and if no notice is taken at the administrative level, Ubale has also warned through a statement that he will go on a fast from March 9.

Poor-quality concrete is used in the said work. Changes have been made to the concrete mix design. A 65 mm thick layer was required to be laid on the bridge slab, but in this case layer of 25 mm was laid. While the road work required providing a crossing for farmers’ pipelines at a distance of 500-500 meters, the contractor did not provide it. In the future, the road will have to be broken for the crossing. As the embankment on both sides of each bridge work is submerged, vehicle collisions occur while traveling.
