Pune, 7th July 2022: A complaint has been lodged with the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari against Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for doing Satyanarayan Pooja in the Chief Minister’s Office. Pune-based human rights activist Adv. Vikas Shinde has lodged this complaint.

In this regard, Adv. Shinde said, “After the political upheaval in Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, testifying to the Constitution and the law. After that, before starting the actual work as the Chief Minister, Satyanarayan was worshipped in the Chief Minister’s office today. This is a violation of the basic tenets of secularism in the Indian Constitution. “

According to the circular dated January 4, 2017, any kind of religious rites in any government, semi-government office as well as an educational institution is not allowed.

“There are clear orders that photos of gods and goddesses cannot be posted. However, after becoming the Chief Minister, Shinde flouted this order”, Adv Shinde said.

Considering the current situation, Adv. Shinde has demanded that the Governor’s Office should immediately take cognizance of the incident and seek an explanation from the Chief Minister and give him a proper understanding of his constitutional responsibilities and duties.
