Savitribai Phule Pune University Pays Tribute to Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule on Death Anniversary
Pune, 10th March 2026: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) paid tribute to Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule on her death anniversary on Tuesday. Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Suresh Gosavi offered floral tributes at the statue of Savitribai Phule, regarded as India’s first female teacher and a pioneer of women’s education, located in front of the university’s main building.
On the occasion, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Parag Kalkar, Management Council member Dr. Jyotsna Ekbote, Bageshree Manthalkar, Dr. Sangeeta Jagtap, Dr. Aruna Dhere, Dr. Anagha Tambe, Senate member Sachin Gorde, Prof. (Dr) Sanjay Tambat, Prof. (Dr) Vilas Adhav, Prof. (Dr) Geeta Shinde, Dr. Vaibhav Jadhav, and other dignitaries also paid their respects.
Heads of various academic and administrative departments, teachers, non-teaching staff, office-bearers of different organisations, and students were present during the tribute ceremony.
