Schools to reopen, Maharashtra government issues guidelines

Pune, June 15, 2020: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has agreed upon starting the academic year for students through digital and online platforms on a pilot project basis. The decision was taken in a video conference meeting with the Minister of School Education Department, Varsha Gaikwad. He has also agreed upon reopening schools in areas away from the cities that are COVID-19 free after taking adequate precautionary measures.

Rules for starting a school: 

  • Great responsibility on the Village Corona Prevention Committee, teachers.
  • A meeting of the school management committees will now be held initially.
  • Discussions will be held with the COVID Prevention Committee in the villages as well as local office-bearers.
  • Sanitation, disinfection, water supply etc. will be done in the schools.
  • Fear in the minds of parents will be reduced by holding parent meetings in groups.
  • Teachers have to persuade the children of migrant workers who are likely to be out of school.
  • Update system by filling student Aadhaar number.
  • Arranging TV, radio with the help of Gram Panchayat so that it will help in education for the children without any facilities.
  • Launching Google ClassRoom, Webinar on an experimental basis.
  • Production of e-educational materials, cybersecurity using the mobile app.
  • Keeping the students informed about health through the school speaker.

Planning to start school: Classes 9th, 10th and 12th not in Red Zone to start from July. Classes 6th to 8th will start in August. Class III to V to start from September. Permission to make decisions with the approval of the School Management Committee from Class I to II. Class XI is scheduled to start next month after the results of Class X.

The Chief Minister said that a pilot project of education would be started immediately with the help of Tata Sky and Jio where the school would not be started. The Chief Minister said that the effectiveness of experiments conducted by some companies in other states should also be checked.
