Separate Toilets For Transgenders To Be Made In Pune District Court
Pune, 22nd September 2022: Special toilets will be provided to the transgender community in the Pune district court. Lawyers and activists were demanding separate toilets from the Principal District Judge for a while and finally, the decision regarding the same is taken.
According to the Protection of Rights of Transgender Act, 2019, to respect the privacy of transgender, separate toilets in the Pune district court were demanded, informed human rights activist Adv Vikas Shinde.
After the Supreme Court’s judgment on transgenders, it has been proved that it is not a disease or disorder but being transgender is completely natural, just like women and men.
After that, a special law has been made by the central government to honour the community. It is said that there is a need to dispel misconceptions about the transgender community in society. It is also the responsibility of society to provide them with the necessary support and assist them to become a part of the mainstream and dignified in the nation.
