In the wake of the strike called by four contractors of PMPML a few days ago, a meeting was held with Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation administration, PMPML administration, and contractors regarding city bus service at Patil’s residence.

MLA Siddharth Shirole, Chairman and Managing Director, PMPML, Om Prakash Bakoria, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr Vikram Kumar, Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of PMRDA Rahul Ranjan Mahiwal, Special Task Officer of Guardian Minister Rajendra Muthe along with the main contractors of PMPML were present.

Pune is the fastest-growing city in the country and is also the most preferred city to live in. Therefore, considering the population of the city, the public transport system is dependent on PMPML. Most of the citizens travel by PMPML buses.

A few days ago, a sudden strike was called by the contractors of PMPML due to non-payment for the last three months. Students, employees, and passengers were affected by this strike. Immediately after that, the Guardian Minister intervened and promptly settled the strike. Rs 66 crores were given to contractors by Municipal Corporation at that time.

The remaining payment and further policy determination were discussed in today’s meeting. Guardian Minister Patil instructed the officials of PMPML that the deficit up to January should be paid by the end of March, and the payments for February and March should be paid by 15th April.

Instructions were given to ensure that payment is made every month by PMPML in the future. The contractors of PMPML expressed satisfaction with it. In order not to inconvenience the passengers, all concerned should show sensitivity and make necessary planning so that the bus service remains uninterrupted and smooth. Patil also directed that necessary measures should be taken to provide good service to the passengers.
