Pune, 12th June 2025: The Savitribai Phule Pune University’s State Eligibility Test (SET) Examination Department has filed a cybercrime complaint after identifying the circulation of fake news and misleading videos related to the upcoming SET exam on social media platforms.

The SET Department, acting as the nodal agency of the Maharashtra government and functioning under the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), is responsible for conducting eligibility tests for the post of Assistant Professor in universities and senior colleges across Maharashtra and Goa.

The 40th SET exam is scheduled to take place on 15th June 2025, across 18 cities in Maharashtra and Goa, hosted at various college centers. In light of this, several unverified and false reports, including videos, have surfaced online, spreading misinformation about the examination.

The SET Department has strongly refuted the authenticity of these claims and urged candidates not to trust or act upon such content. To address the issue, a formal cybercrime complaint has been lodged with the Cyber Police Station in Pune under Application Number 869/2025 on Wednesday (11th June) at 9:00 pm.

Officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for spreading false information, which may cause confusion or distress among aspirants preparing for the exam.

The department also advised students to rely only on official communication from the university and the SET portal for accurate updates regarding the examination.
