Sharad Pawar felicitated at MPL closing ceremony

Pune, June 29, 2023: “Pune will host five World Cup games. It is a matter of pride for the city, and it will boost the sports culture of the city,” the former head of BCCI and ICC, Sharad Pawar said at the closing ceremony of the Shriram Capital Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) at the MCA International Stadium in Gahunje on Thursday.

“MCA has exceptionally organized this tournament. I am sure this tournament will unearth many players for the state and country,” Sharad Pawar said.

MCA president Rohit Pawar thanked the BCCI at the closing ceremony for awarding them five World Cup games. “I would like to thank BCCI and the Hon. Jay Shah, Secretary, BCCI for awarding us the World Cup games,” he said.

“I would also like to thank all the fans who turned out in big numbers for the game. Also, special mention has to go to all the ground staff, who worked tirelessly to make the ground ready for the tournament with rain looming large,” the MCA president said.

State’s Minister of Industries Uday Samant also shared his thoughts along with Pawar.

Along with Pawar, members of the apex council of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) – president Rohit Pawar, vice president Kiran Samant, secretary Shubhendra Bhandarkar, joint secretary Santosh Bobde, treasurer Sanjay Bajaj and MPL chairman Sachin Muley – were present.

Other apex council members – Suhas Patwardhan, Sunil Mutha, Vinayak Dravid, Raju Kane, MCA Coo Ajinkya Joshi, Rajvardhan Kadambande, Sushil Shevale, Ranjeet Khirid and Kalpna Tapkir – were also present for the closing ceremony.

At the closing ceremony, Nadbramha Dhol Trust, Kerala’s speciality Chenda Thalam and the band Abhang repost performed their art.
