Show Cultural Richness Of Pune On Occasion Of G20 Conference: Chief Secretary Manu Kumar Srivastava

Pune, 10th January 2023: On the occasion of the G20 meeting, the cultural richness of Pune should be shown while welcoming the delegates coming to Pune, Maharashtra State Chief Secretary Manu Kumar Srivastava said. Srivastava instructed that the representatives should be welcomed with the accompaniment of the Puneri Dhol Team.

He was speaking in a video conferencing regarding the preparations for the G20 meeting. Manisha Mhaiskar, Principal Secretary of Protocol Department, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao from Pune, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumaarr, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Additional Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Varsha Ladda from Divisional Commissioner’s office, and others were present in the meeting.

Stating that the Pune district has prepared well for the meeting, Chief Secretary Srivastava said the glory of Pune and Maharashtra should be presented to the guests through the tapestry. Development and cultural matters in the district should be presented at the meeting place. As such meetings will also be held in Aurangabad and Nagpur, he suggested that the officials there should be invited to see the preparations for Pune. The Chief Secretary also reviewed the security and preparations at the meeting venue.

While giving information about Pune’s preparations, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said, “In preparation for these meetings, activities such as bicycle rallies, cleanliness campaigns, seminars and demonstrations of meetings, bike rallies, walkathons, and others are being organized by schools and colleges. The arriving delegates will be traditionally welcomed at the airport. On the occasion of the International Year of Nutritious Cereals, food prepared from this grain will be included in the food and information about it will also be given.”

At the venue of the meeting, Pune’s potential will be showcased through various halls such as Pune’s infrastructure, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, MTDC, Khadi Village Industry, Social Forestry etc. Savitribai Phule Pune University has organized a cultural program to plant trees and welcome guests. He informed me that all departments of the administration are trying to make the meeting a success through good planning.

Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said, “75 attractive sculptures have been erected in various squares of the city. Roadside beautification and electric lighting are being done. The Municipal Corporation has organized various activities to create an environment.” He said citizens are also getting enthusiastic support in this preparation.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of various departments of the district.
