Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple Attains Tourist Status In Pune
Pune, 19th May 2023: The revered Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple has been granted the prestigious status of a tourist spot. The decision was made during a District Planning Committee meeting, where discussions also took place regarding the allocation of funds for the development of the Morya Gosavi Devasthan area in Chinchwad.
The Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh Temple attracts devotees from across the Maharashtra state, serving as a prominent place of worship for the devotees of lord Ganesh. With its new tourist spot designation, the temple is expected to witness increased tourism and further enhance its significance.
The District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting, chaired by Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil, allocated funds for various purposes. A substantial amount of Rs 4.50 crores was designated for science labs, Rs 16 crores for sports development, and Rs 3.10 crores for the enhancement of tourist spots and pilgrimage sites in municipal schools, announced Guardian Minister Patil.
A total of Rs 41 crore 93 lakh rupees has been earmarked on a priority basis for the conservation of forts, temples, and other significant protected monuments, including Sinhagad, Rajgad, Torna, Chakan, Purandar Fort, Raireshwar Temple, and Holkar Wada at Vafgaon.
Considering the inclusion of newly incorporated villages in Pune city, the DPC emphasized the need to allocate increased funds for facilitating necessary amenities in those areas. It was agreed upon to allocate funds for the procurement of vehicles and updated equipment for the city and rural police forces, with provisions made available from the Social Responsibility Fund.
During the meeting, the implementation of the state government’s ‘silt-free dam and silt-free Shiwar’ scheme was also deliberated for adoption within the district.
The approval of an expenditure of Rs 875 crores for the General District Annual Plan for the year 2022-23, ending in March 2023, was a significant decision taken in the meeting. The officials highlighted that the previous year’s expenditure had reached 100 percent, reflecting effective utilization of allocated resources.
