New Delhi, 26th February 2024: A striking resemblance has emerged between the recent murder of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) state president Nafe Singh Rathi in Haryana and the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Both cases share a common modus operandi, raising concerns about the possible involvement of organized crime.

Nafe Singh Rathi met a tragic end near Barahi railway gate in Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar district, when unidentified assailants targeted him while he was traveling in his Fortuner car on Sunday evening. The method of the attack closely mirrors the murder of renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who fell victim to gangster Lawrence’s henchmen in a similar style.

Here are six key points highlighting the commonalities between the two cases:

1. Firing in the Middle of the Road: Both Nafe Singh Rathi and Sidhu Moosewala were attacked in the middle of the road, leaving them with no chance to defend themselves. The attackers displayed a ruthless approach, firing a substantial number of rounds at their targets.

2. Accurate recce, Pursuit in Advance, Attack in the Evening: The attackers in both cases demonstrated precise planning by conducting reconnaissance in advance. They followed the victims, knowing their schedules, and executed the attacks in the evening. The assailants in both instances used cars to pursue and ambush their targets.

3. Use of Modern Weapons: Modern weapons, including AK47s and 9MM pistols, were employed in both attacks. The use of sophisticated firearms indicates a potentially organized and well-equipped criminal group.

4. Focus Only on the Target: The assailants in both cases exhibited a clear focus on their primary targets. The attackers did not target accompanying individuals, resulting in a higher number of fatal hits on the intended victims.

5. Car Use Module: In both instances, the criminals utilized a car to chase the target and make a swift escape post-attack. The choice of a car as the mode of operation underscores a planned and coordinated effort.

6. Security Measures: Both Sidhu Moosewala and Nafe Singh Rathi faced reduced security before the attacks. Despite Rathi hiring private gunmen, the assailants managed to carry out the attack successfully.

The Haryana police are investigating the murder of Nafe Singh Rathi, and the potential involvement of organized criminal elements, possibly associated with Lawrence’s gang, is being probed. The similarities between the two cases raise concerns about the presence of a larger criminal network operating across state borders.

Nafe Singh Rathi, aged 65, leaves behind a grieving family with two sons. INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala had appointed Rathi as the state president of the party just two years ago.
