SIXTH INDO-MALDIVES JOINT MILITARY EXERCISES

Punekar News's photo.The sixth Indo-Maldives joint Training Exercise commenced on 31 August 2015 with an impressive opening ceremony at Pangode Military Station, Trivandrum. Aim of the joint Exercise is to acquaint both the forces with each other’s operating procedure in addition to increased understanding and interoperability between the two Armies.

The Maldivean Nation Defence Forces contingent comprising of 45 marines is taking part in the exercise. The Indian Army is being represented by 45 soldiers of BIHAR Regiment. Varied training activities are being conducted to enhance interoperability and jointness between the two defence forces. The Maldivian troops are also being given opportunities to visit places of local importance in and around Trivandrum to acquaint themselves with the culture of the local populace.

A grand closing ceremony on 13 Sep 15 involving cultural displays by various military display teams including Kalaripayattu, Chendamelan, Malkhamb and Jhanj Pathak besides aerial acrobatics display by Sarang Team will bring the curtains down on this historic event.
