Snake venom worth Rs 2 crores seized in Pune

Pune : Sleuths from Khadak police station on Wednesday seized snake venom worth Rs two crores (in the international market)   and have arrested seven smugglers.

The arrests were made in Shukrawar Peth following tip-off received by head constable Shailesh Jagtap. Police have seized 1000 ml venom and Tavera car worth Rs 5 lakhs from the accused possession.

The arrested accuseds have been identified as Sunil Hiremath (30), Pandurang Patil (60), Krishna Kerba Kumbhar (50), Chandrakant Govinda Lohar (36), Prakash Pandurang Sutar (35), Pravin Patil and Samant Faniband. Two accused are being brought to Pune from Kolhapur.

DCP (Zone I) Dr Sudhir Hiremath supervised the investigation team which included Senior police inspector Raghunath Jadhav, in-charge of Khadak police staion, police inspector (crime) Sambhaji Shirke, Police sub inspector Sanjay Gaikwad, Anant Vyavhare and policemen Aniket Babar, Imran Nadaf, Mahendra Pawar, Mahesh Barawkar.
