Pune, 16th April 2026: A 45-year-old man has been booked for allegedly failing to comply with an order directing him to provide financial support to his elderly parents, police said.

The case was registered at Kale Padal Police Station following a complaint filed by his 82-year-old father. The offence has been registered under Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

According to police, the father had earlier approached the Senior Citizens Maintenance Tribunal at the Sub-Divisional Officer’s office, alleging neglect and lack of financial support from his son. Acting on the complaint, the tribunal had directed the son to pay a monthly maintenance of Rs 10,000 to his parents.

However, the accused allegedly failed to comply with the order and did not make the payments. He also reportedly refused to take responsibility for the care of his elderly parents.

Following continued non-compliance, the father approached the police, seeking action against his son for disobeying the tribunal’s directive. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered.

Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Abdagire is investigating the matter.
