Pune – Shweta Bhosale of Pune has won one Gold, two Silver, while Harshal Garad has won one Bronze medal in the South Asian (SA) Vovinam Championship held in Bangladesh. Vovinam is a Vietnamese martial art.
Players from eight countries participated in the championship held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on July 20, 21.
She got got guidance from the coach of the Indian team Shankar Mahabale.
Shweta is studying in the last year of Bcom at Abeda Inamdar College. She is also the director of Fitness Martial Arts and Sports Academy. She has been training in martial arts for the past five years. She has also won a gold medal at state level and district level in Vovinam.
She wants to pursue a career in sports. “Girls need to participate in this sport for self defense. I have achieved this success with the support of my family”, Shweta said.
