Pune, 13 May 2020 – The Office of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Officers) is responsible for releasing Pay and Allowances and personal claims of more than 53000 officers of Indian Army starting from newly commissioned Lieutenant to Chief of Defence staff. The charter of duties of PCDA(O) has been declared as essential services by the Controller General of Defence Accounts (MoD) in the current pandemic of covid-19.

As part of the ongoing endeavour of Indian Army to felicitate Corona Warriors across the country, Maj Gen Tejinder Jaggi MG EME, HQ SC and Brig Sandeep Sehgal, Dy Provost Marshal, Military Police visited the Office of PCDA(O) on 13th may 2020 to express their gratitude, on behalf of GOC-in-C, HQ SC towards team of PCDA(O), who is engaged in rendering essential services relating to disbursement of Pay and Allowances to the serving Officers and retirement benefits to the retiring officers amid nationwide lockdown.

Maj Gen Jaggi handed over sweets for the staff of the PCDA(O) to acknowledge tireless efforts put in by them. In his address, Maj Gen Jaggi said that officials of PCDA(O) led by Dr. Nirupama Kajla, IDAS, PCDA has put in relentless efforts in the pay accounting services amidst the nationwide lockdown inspite of the atmosphere of fear & severe restrictions on movements of people in Pune being a Red Zone. All these efforts have gone a long way in keeping the morale of the Army Officers high especially in these challenging times and deserves appreciation.

On this occasion Dr. Nirupama Kajla, IDAS, PCDA(O) said that in spite of severe restrictions imposed by local Civil and Police authorities during the lockdown since 25th March 2020, this office has ensured that salary of serving Army officers and retirement dues of 86 officers, who retired in March 2020 and 62 officers, who retired in April 2020 were timely released.

The PCDA(O) conveyed her sincere gratitude to Lt. Gen CP Mohanty, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C (Southern Command) for deputing his team of Officers for appreciating the hard work put in by the officials of this office during the pandemic of COVID-19 and for motivating them.

PCDA(O) further stated that it is a matter of pride for us to serve the Officers of Indian Army – who sacrifice their lives for the nation and it will be our endeavour to continue performing our duty to the best of our ability.
