SOUTHERN COMMAND WINS ARMY ADVENTURE CHALLENGE CUP

The adventure team of Southern Command wins the prestigious Army Adventure Challenge Cup 2016-17 held in mid December 2016 at Yingkiong, Arunachal Pradesh. On the occasion a felicitation ceremony was held at Headquarters Southern Command. Lt Gen PM Hariz, AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command felicitated and congratulated the entire team led by Lieutenant Praveen Kumar and Lieutenant Shubhendra Jha on the historic win.

Army Adventure Challenge Cup is a prestigious and coveted triathlon competition which takes place once every two years. Two teams per Army commands participate in this prestigious event. The adventure challenge involves a grueling cycling, running and white water rafting race of a total distance of 50 Kms. The adventure challenge is the ultimate test of the endurance, speed, skill, mental resolve and determination of the top adventure athletes of the Army. 

Team A with core nucleus of MEG & Centre, Bangalore under Lieutenant Praveen Kumar and gutsy Naik D R Ravi lifted the overall first Army Adventure Challenge Cup trophy along with best in cycling & rafting. Team B with core nucleus of MARATHA LIRC, Belgaum under Lieutenant Shubhendra Jha and dynamic Sep Rajesyam Ade lifted the overall 2nd runners up trophy. Sapper Gurvinder of Team B emerged as the best runner and Nk Devappa of Team A as 3rd best in cycling.
