Speed Up Enrollment Of School Children, Relax Rules Of Failure – Centre Tells States

Delhi, January 10, 2021: The Union Education Ministry has begun making efforts to streamline the studies of children in the backdrop of the closure of schools due to Coronavirus disease (COVID19). The ministry has directed the state governments to conduct a door-to-door survey of the children coming to school and start working on various schemes to get them enrolled in schools.

According to officials, the ministry has also recommended the relaxation of rules for failing children. This recommendation has been made to identify and enrol them and continuing education. The ministry felt the need to reduce the challenges faced by school children in the wake of the Corona epidemic. 

An official said that it has been felt that due to corona crisis there is a rise in dropout and a decrease in registration, all states and Union Territories should formulate appropriate policy. This is why states and union territories have been advised to conduct door-to-door surveys to identify students aged between six and 18 years who are away from schools.
