Sports: MSEDCL Shines in All India Electricity Sports Control Board Competition

Patiala, 17th October 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) emerged victorious at the 45th All India Board of Control for Electric Sports outdoor competition in Patiala, Punjab. Under the guidance of Lokesh Chandra, Chairman and Managing Director of MSEDCL, the team clinched the coveted overall title.

The competition, hosted by the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd on October 13 and 14, witnessed remarkable performances by the MSEDCL team. They secured a remarkable haul of five gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.

Gulab Singh Vasave from MSEDCL delivered an exceptional performance by clinching three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 400m hurdles events. Meanwhile, Sachin Chavan triumphed in the javelin throw, and Praveen Borawke displayed his prowess in the shot put, securing gold medals for their remarkable achievements.

In addition to the gold medals, MSEDCL’s relay teams also excelled. The quartet consisting of Gulab Singh Vasave, Sambhaji Jadhav, Sainath Masane, and Shubham Nimbalkar secured silver in the 4×100 relay event, while another team comprising Gulab Singh Vasave, Vijay Bhare, Shubham Nimbalkar, and Pradeep Vanjari earned silver medals in the 4×400 relay event. Vijay Bhare also claimed a silver medal in the 400m running event.

The MSEDCL team continued to impress with strong performances resulting in multiple bronze medals. Hanmant Kadam shone in the hammer throw event, while Sainath Masane’s talents earned him a bronze medal in the 100m run, and Hanmant Kadam showcased his skills in the shot put. Sainath Masane also secured silver in the 110m hurdles, and Somnath Kanthikar made a noteworthy jump to secure a silver medal in the long jump.

The 17-member MSEDCL team was expertly coached by Pratik Waikar, with the team managed by Deputy Chief Industrial Relations Officer Srikrishna Vaidande. The exemplary performance of MSEDCL at the All India Electricity Sports Control Board Competition has further highlighted the organization’s dedication to excellence.
