SPPU Pays Tribute to Indira Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
Pune, 1st November 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) observed the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with solemnity and respect on Thursday.
During the ceremony, wreaths were offered to the portraits of the two national leaders by Officiating Registrar Prof. Jyoti Bhakere, Finance and Accounts Officer Charushila Gayke, Director of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension and Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, and Shivaji Utekar.
On this occasion, Dr. Adhav administered an oath to the attendees, emphasizing the importance of unity, integrity, and national service.
The event was attended by Dr. Ajay Thube, Director of Vidyavani Radio, Shridhar Gaikwad, other dignitaries, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students of the university.
The university community paid homage to the contributions of both leaders — Indira Gandhi for her leadership and vision, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his pivotal role in national integration.
