SPPU signs MoU with  Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) and Inter-University Centre For Astronomy And Astrophysics (IUCAA)

Pune, October 29, 2020: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has signed an MoU with  Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) and Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) to develop cooperation and  collaboration between SPPU and PKC in undertaking various programmes and projects.

The signing of MoU took place in presence of SPPU vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar, pro-vice chancellor NS Umrani,  registrar Prafulla Pawar, IUCAA director Somak Raychaudhury, PKC’s principal investigator (former director of IUCAA) Ajit Kembhavi, SPPU’s dean of the faculty of science and technology Manohar Chaskar, dean of the faculty of commerce and management Parag Kalkar , dean of faculty of  interdisciplinary studies Sanjeev Sonavane, Physics department’s head Suresh Gosavi , SPPU’s technology deptartment’s head Aditya Abhyankar and university’s other important personalities.

While the central government approved PKC was in search of a suitable place to open an office, SPPU decided to accommodate it at their new building established near the health centre. The PKC office on the third floor of this new building is likely to open in next two months. The three institutes aim at conducting industrial and academic research at the cluster. Also, it will formulate curriculums to enhance the capacity building at the university.
