SRPF Personnel in Pune Participate in Guided Meditation Session for Mental Well-Being

Pune, 24th April 2025: In an effort to promote mental wellness among law enforcement personnel, the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) conducted a guided meditation session for around 300 officers and cadets in Pune. The session was organized under the leadership of Namrata Patil, Commandant of SRPF Group 2.
The brief meditation practice introduced during the session is part of a broader campaign to encourage simple tools for emotional balance and mental clarity. Participants included senior officers, constables, and cadets from the force.
The session featured a 7-minute guided practice accessible via a mobile app. While the technique is promoted by the Isha Foundation, the event focused primarily on its potential as a low-barrier method for stress reduction.
Speaking to the personnel, Commandant Patil encouraged trying out the practice regularly. “I know you begin your day early with intense physical training. But taking seven minutes for mental calm could be helpful. There’s no harm in trying,” she remarked.
After the session, Patil shared her initial impressions, calling the experience “relaxing” and noting the ease of following the instructions. She also mentioned plans to introduce similar sessions for cadets from Group 1 and those undergoing training at the SRPF campus in Daund.
The initiative aligns with growing recognition of the need for mental health support among security forces, who often work under demanding and high-stress conditions.
