State Government Approves 8,015 Sq Ft Land on Senapati Bapat Road for Pune Press Club
Pune, 8th December 2025: In a major boost to media infrastructure in the city, the Maharashtra State Cabinet has approved the allotment of around 8,015 sq ft of land on Senapati Bapat Road for the Pune Patrakar Pratishthan to develop a new Pune Press Club facility. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, following an initiative led by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
The new well-equipped and spacious Press Club building will facilitate training, skill development programmes, health camps, study tours, medical check-ups, and welfare initiatives for journalists and their families. With the rapid expansion of media operations in Pune, the number of journalists has increased significantly, making the existing premises insufficient for daily activities and organised events.
The allocated land — Final Plot No. 881/A (8015.07 sq ft/744.62 sq m) at Mauje Bhamburda — will be provided as per Section 40 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966 and Rules 50 and 51 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue (Disposal of Government Lands) Rules, 1971. The land will be allotted on commercial terms with Class-2 occupant rights, subject to conditions and payment as per the government’s valuation norms.
Highlighting the importance of the decision, Revenue Minister Bawankule said that dignitaries, including ministers, judges, senior bureaucrats, editors, and media leaders frequently participate in various programmes organised by the foundation. The new space will support the growing needs of the organisation and enable the expansion of welfare and professional development activities for journalists in Pune.
