Step-by-Step Guide: How to Verify Your Presence on the Voter List for the Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections
New Delhi, 3rd April 2024: With the Lok Sabha elections just around the corner, citizens across the nation are preparing to exercise their right to vote. Scheduled in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with the counting of votes on June 4, the upcoming general election will determine the members of the 18th Lok Sabha.
With a staggering number of over 97 crore eligible voters, the Election Commission (EC) has introduced convenient methods for individuals to verify their presence on the voter list, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free polling process.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to checking your voter registration:
1. Visit the government’s electoral search portal using any device – phone, PC, or laptop: https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/
2. Choose your preferred language and select from three search options: Search by EPIC, Search by details, or Search by mobile.
For Search by EPIC:
– Select your language.
– Provide EPIC number and state details..
– Input the displayed captcha code and click on search.
For Search by details:
– Select your state, preferred language.
– Fill in personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, and relatives’ names.
– Provide location details including district and assembly constituency.
– Input the captcha and click search.
For Search by mobile:
– Choose your state and language.
– Enter your mobile number and captcha code.
– Request OTP for mobile verification of one-time password authentication.
– Enter the OTP received and click on search.
Upon completion of any of the above methods, you’ll find your name on the voter’s list, along with pertinent details like confirmed polling date and polling station information.
In addition to online methods, citizens can utilize the toll-free number 1950 for assistance with queries or complaints regarding elections, voting dates, EPIC, electoral roll, and online registration.
For offline registration, new voters can directly contact the Booth Level Officer (BLO) of their area and fill out Form 6, accompanied by necessary documents including a passport-sized photograph, identity proof, address proof, and date of birth proof.
