Stolen ornaments worth Rs 13.42 lakhs recovered from externed goon

Pune – A 32-year-old externed goon has been arrested by Chatushrungi police station and police claimed to have seized stolen jewelries worth Rs 13.42 lakhs from his possession.

The name of the accused is Jaywant alias Jaidya Govardhan Gaikwad (32) of Aundh. With his arrest, police have solved 11 theft cases. He was arrested him in Pashan on August 6. As he was externed, he was not suppose to come to Pune, police said. The recoveries made from him includes Rs 64,000 cash, 422 gram gold, 500 gram silver ornaments, worth Rs 13.42 lakhs.

Additional CP (North region) Sunil Phulari, DCP (Zone 3) Mangesh Shinde, ACP (Chatushrungi division) Kalyanrao Vidhate, senior police inspector Dayanand Dhome, Police Inspector (crime) Vaishali Galande, guided the investigation team which included policemen Baban Gund, Balasaheb Gaikwad, Maruti Pardhi, Saras Salvi, Ajay Gaikwad, Santosh Jadhav, Mahesh Bamgude, Sanjay Wagh, Dada Kale, Dnyaneshwar Mule, Amar Shaikh, Tejas Chopde, and Amit Gadre. API Sandesh Kenjale and PSI Prem Waghmore are further investigating the case.
