Strikers FC crowned CMS Champions Cup winners at the CMS Champions Cup 2023 11-a-side state level football tournament

28 May, Nigdi: Subodh Lama’s two goals propelled Strikers FC to a 2-1 victory over DFA Mumbai which saw them crowned winners of the at the CMS Champions Cup 2023 11-a-side state level football tournament which is being organized by CMS (Chinchwad Malayalee Samajam) and CMS Falcons Football Club and played at Madan Lal Dhingra stadium in Nigdi.

Forward Lama gave his side first half lead but Shahid Shaikh equalised for DFA Mumbai 10 minutes into the second half. Strikers FC were then awarded a penalty kick which Lama converted and that proved to be the winning goal.

The open category winning team Strikers FC got trophy and Rs.51,000, the runner-up team DFA MUMBAI got Rs.31,000 and a trophy. The 40+ category (Veterans) winning team Akatsuki received trophy and Rs.21,000, the runner-up team Pune Veterans got Rs.11,000 and a trophy. The prizes were given away at the hands of RJ Sangram Khopade(95 Big FM), Mahesh dada Landge – MLA Bhosari constituency, Prashant Shitole – Ex standing chairman, Yogesh Behl – Ex Mayor PCMC, Shantaram Bhalekar – Ex corporator, Jagdish Shetty – Ex Corporator, Nikhil Dubois – Vice President, Football Association Pune, Sohan Singh Sona – Secretary, Football Association Pune,
Mr SS Aluwalia – President Guru Tegh Bahadur Foundation were present on the occassion.

Results (Final): Strikers FC 2 (Subodh Lama 24′, 62′ penalty) beat DFA Mumbai 1 (Shahid Shaikh 45′).

40+ Age Category (Final): Akatsuki 0 drew with Pune Veterans 0; Akatsuki win 3-0 via penalty shootout.
Akatsuki: Shanup Nair scored, Vivek Rokade scored, Jason Vaz missed, Prashant Sasane scored.
Pune Veterans: Ramnath Viswanathan missed, Kunal Chakranarayan missed, Shailendra Pathak missed.

3rd/4th place match: CMS Falcons A 7 (Shibu Sunny 45′, 54′, Anup Nair penalty 31′, Abdullah Khan 37′, Vicky Rajput 39′, Manish Thakre 60′, Aniket More 64′) beat CMS Falcons B 1 (Yuvraj Gurung 42′)
