Students To Get 100% Refund After Cancelling Admission For Higher Education, Directs UGC
Pune 8th July 2023: The University Grant Commission (UGC) has directed all the higher educational institutions to refund 100 percent fees to students who cancel their admissions for some reason. UGC has directed the institutes to refund the fees by September 30.
A discussion on the matter was held at the 507th meeting of the UGC held on June 27 after several complaints and proposals about students facing difficulties in getting refunds were received. The education body has instructed to implement the new rule for the academic year 2023-24.
This brings a major relief to the students and their parents as many education institutes in the country were not refunding the fees to students once they cancel the admission. Many students often get themselves admitted in an institute and later cancel the admission if they get an opportunity to get admission to a different steam or institute of their choice.
Such students were facing difficulties in getting refund of their fees. However, now with the new rule the college administration will have to provide complete refund of the fees in case the student cancels the admission.
