Support Wings Leads Youth-Driven Sustainability Initiatives in Pune, Promotes Environmental Action
Pune, 26th June 2026: Youth organisation Support Wings organised a series of sustainability initiatives in Pune this month, bringing together young volunteers for environmental awareness, plantation activities and community engagement.
As part of its June 2026 initiatives, Support Wings partnered with the organisation Vrikshavari on June 14 to conduct a workshop on cultivating saplings directly from seeds. The session focused on sustainable plantation practices and aimed to educate participants about the complete lifecycle of plants, from seed to sapling.
The hands-on workshop encouraged participants to understand the importance of nurturing plants and adopting environmentally responsible practices.
A week later, on June 21, the organisation hosted the Malhargad Trek & Clean-up Drive, combining environmental conservation with outdoor adventure. The initiative included a clean-up drive and tree plantation activity at Malhargad, followed by a trek to Purandar Fort.
During the clean-up drive, volunteers collected three sacks of plastic bottles from the area. Instead of discarding the waste, the plastic was sent for recycling, with the proceeds generated being used to cover the team’s breakfast and refreshment expenses.
The initiative highlighted the concept of “waste-to-wealth”, demonstrating how proper waste management can turn discarded materials into useful resources while promoting sustainability.
Volunteers also planted saplings during the event, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation and encouraging responsible action among young participants.
“Through these initiatives, we want youth to understand that environmental responsibility begins with action. Whether it is learning how a seed grows into a plant or transforming waste into wealth through recycling, every small step can create a meaningful impact for our environment and society,” said Tanishq Agrawal, founder of Support Wings.
The organisation said the initiatives are part of its broader efforts to engage young people beyond digital platforms and encourage active participation in social and environmental causes.
Support Wings is a youth-driven organisation operating across more than 70 cities in India. According to the organisation, it has engaged over 10,000 young individuals through leadership programmes, internships and community initiatives focused on volunteering, skill development and social impact.
