Pune, May 29th, 2024: Pune, often hailed as the cultural capital of Maharashtra and referred to as the Oxford of the East, has recently faced a tarnished reputation due to escalating incidents of crime. The emergence of gun gangs and Koyta gangs vandalizing streets, coupled with the rising pub culture and involvement of minors in addiction, has marred the city’s image.

The Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident, where a minor allegedly under the influence of alcohol caused the death of two IT professionals in a two-wheeler collision, has brought national attention to Pune. Consequently, the Police Administration, Maharashtra State Excise Department, and the Maharashtra State Government have faced scrutiny.

In response, Baramati MP and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Leader Supriya Sule has taken to social media, once again criticizing Maharashtra’s Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.

MP Supriya Sule wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Pune is home to students from across the country and abroad, and its thriving IT sector attracts engineers and experts from diverse fields. Known for its art and cultural events, Pune’s recent events have tarnished its image as the ‘home of education’.”

Sule continued, “Easy availability of drugs like marijuana and the havoc wreaked by Koyta gangs and other criminals have raised questions about Pune’s law and order. The need for the Home Minister’s presence in the city underscores the failure of the government to maintain law and order.”

In further criticism targeting Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, Sule added, “Neglecting an important city like Pune has led to increased crime and insecurity for citizens. The state home department must prioritize attention to Pune without delay and take immediate steps to improve the law and order situation.”

Recently, Indian National Congress Maharashtra State President Nana Patole called for Fadnavis’s resignation due to the failure to prevent crimes. Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has also criticized Fadnavis through his speeches and writings.
