Swarbhaskar Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Music Festival To Be Organised In Pune
Pune, 4th May 2022: The Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra is organizing the Swarbhaskar Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Classical Music Festival in Pune to commemorate the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. The festival shall be held at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch on May 9th and 10th. Entry to this festival would be free on a first come first serve basis. Some seats shall be reserved for the invitees. Amit Deshmukh, State Cabinet Minister for Medical Education and Cultural Affairs will inaugurate the festival.
The festival will begin with the Jugalbandi of Sharangdhar Sathe (Harmonium) and Pandit Pramod Gaikawad (Shahnai). Sathe is disciple Pandit Manohar Chimote and Gaikwad is grandson of Shahnai Maestro Pandit Shankarrao Gaikwad. This will follow the performance of Sania Patankar, a vocalist from the Jaipur – Atrauli Gharana and the disciple of Pandita Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. Pandit Shrinivas Joshi, Son and Disciple of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi will perform thereafter. The day will conclude with the performance of flute maestro, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
The second day of the festival will start with the performance of Pandit Maruti Patil, a Sitar player from the Vilayatkhani Gharana. This will be followed by the dance performance of acclaimed Kathak Dancer Sharvari Jamenis. The festival will conclude with the performance of Pandit Anand Bhate, disciple of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
