Pune, 16th April 2022: In the last two years due to the Covid Pandemic there was a lack of opportunity to travel and it gave us a reminder that the Education System does not work well in isolation. We need an in person collaboration for better quality outcomes.  There should be a cooperation between the government and the education institutions for smooth functioning of the education activities said Mr. Peter Truswell, Consul-General for Australia in Mumbai, India, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Mr. Peter Truswell, was invited as a Chief Guest for the Inaugural Ceremony of SYMBIOSIS CENTRE FOR INDIA-AUSTRALIA STUDIES (SCIAS). During his keynote address Mr. Peter Truswell said, the launch of Symbiosis Centre for India- Australia Studies was the most awaited announcement for us. In Australia we are welcoming Indian Students and strengthening the ties between both the countries. I am impressed with the Indian Higher Education System. The caliber of Indian students is recognized worldwide and the Institutions like Symbiosis have an International recognition.

India’s “National Education Policy 2020” has created strong opportunities for India- Australia Partnerships. We are looking for a Great Step forward in terms of Cross Learning, Students Exchange, Network Opportunities, Industry- Academia Partnerships Mr. Peter Truswell added further.

There is a large number of Indian students going to Australia each year for education purposes but the same is not the case with the Australian Students, as the number of Australian Students visiting India for education is very less. In India we need to give exposure to the Foreign Students so that more students can come to study here.

The Inauguration of Symbiosis Centre for India – Australia Studies (SCIAS) took place virtually. Ms. Swati Sahasrabudhe, Head, International Initiatives and Collaboration, Symbiosis Centre for International Education was the anchor of the program.
