Tamhini Crosses 5,000 mm Rainfall Mark This Season; IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Ghat Areas

Pune, 26th July 2025: The ghat regions around Pune continue to receive intense rainfall, with Tamhini Ghat recording 250 mm in the last 24 hours, pushing its seasonal total to 5,142 mm, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Remarkably, this milestone mirrors last year’s record, when Tamhini also crossed the 5,000 mm mark on July 26.

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the ghat sections of Pune district for Saturday, urging caution in landslide-prone areas and along steep terrain routes.
