Labour Ministry Issues Notice to TCS Over Delay in Onboarding 600 Lateral Hires Following NITES Complaint
New Delhi/Pune, 26th July 2025: The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, has officially intervened in the ongoing dispute involving Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and over 600 experienced lateral hires whose onboarding has been indefinitely delayed. The action follows a formal complaint filed by the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES).
The Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) has issued a notice to TCS and has scheduled a joint discussion on August 1, 2025, in New Delhi to address the grievances of the affected professionals.
“We sincerely appreciate the swift action taken by the Labour Ministry and the Chief Labour Commissioner in recognizing the urgency of this matter,” said Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES.
TCS Under Scrutiny for Delayed Hiring After Offer Letters
According to NITES, the professionals impacted by the delay had resigned from their previous roles after receiving offer letters and formal assurances from TCS, only to find their onboarding process indefinitely postponed without clear communication.
Saluja stated that the Ministry’s response reflects its commitment to protecting the rights and livelihoods of IT professionals, particularly those who acted in good faith based on confirmed job offers.
Hopes for Fair Resolution
NITES has expressed hope that the upcoming meeting will pave the way for a fair and just resolution for all affected employees and has urged TCS to honor its employment commitments in line with ethical and contractual obligations.
