Tanisha Bhise Death Case: Sassoon Hospital To Probe Medical Negligence After Third Report Submitted
Pune, 14th April 2025: The Maharashtra State Government has received a third report in the ongoing investigation into the death of Tanisha Bhise, a pregnant woman who was allegedly denied treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. This latest report comes from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Maternal Death Review Panel, following earlier submissions from the State Public Health Department and the Charity Commissioner Office.
The newly submitted report by the Maternal Death Review Panel provides an in-depth analysis of the exact cause of Tanisha’s death. As the case progresses, Sassoon General Hospital’s internal inquiry committee will now take over the investigation, specifically examining the role of Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, where Bhise was denied treatment due to lack of funds.
In addition to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, the committee will also review medical procedures and care provided at the two other hospitals where Tanisha was treated. The investigation will focus on whether there was any medical negligence involved in the case.
Sources confirm that the Pune Police have officially handed over documents to the committee, and the investigation by Sassoon Hospital’s inquiry team is set to commence on Tuesday (15th April).
