Pune, 2nd December 2024: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, in collaboration with Tata International, the global trading and distribution arm of the Tata Group, has launched a new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Pune. The facility, named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’, boasts an annual capacity of recycling 21,000 end-of-life vehicles using environmentally responsible methods.

The RVSF, operated by Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata International, is capable of dismantling both passenger and commercial vehicles, regardless of the brand. This launch marks a significant step forward in India’s vehicle lifecycle management.

At the inauguration, Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability. He stated, “Tata Motors is driving the future of mobility, and the launch of Re.Wi.Re is a testament to our dedication to fostering a circular economy. Through innovative recycling practices, we can extract maximum value from end-of-life vehicles while simultaneously contributing to India’s sustainability targets. Re.Wi.Re is also a reflection of our strong partnership with Tata International, which has been instrumental in supporting our global ventures.”

Rajeev Batra, CEO of Tata International Vehicle Applications, highlighted the facility’s role in transforming India’s vehicle recycling landscape. “This facility, with the capacity to dismantle 21,000 vehicles annually, will meet the growing demand for safe and efficient vehicle recycling. We recognize the importance of managing end-of-life vehicles in an environmentally responsible manner and are proud to be part of the shift towards a regulated, sustainable recycling ecosystem. At TIVA, we remain committed to advancing practices that benefit our society and environment,” he said.

The Re.Wi.Re facility in Pune is designed to adhere to the highest standards of environmental care. It employs both cell-type and line-type dismantling processes for passenger and commercial vehicles. The facility includes dedicated stations for the safe removal of hazardous materials such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, and gases. Each vehicle undergoes a detailed and documented dismantling process, ensuring compliance with India’s national vehicle scrappage policy.

This new Pune facility adds to the growing Re.Wi.Re network, which already includes successful operations in Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. Each of these facilities operates in a fully digitalized and paperless environment, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and sustainability in the automotive industry.
