Tata Power organises Dental Checkup Camp for School Children in Pune

Pune, 18th April, 2016 – Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company has always been at the forefront of extending health care services to the local communities in and around its area of operation, as part of its community development initiatives. In line with this, Tata Power conducted a Dental Checkup Camp for School Children in Pune. The dental checkup camp was attended by more than 180 students from schools across five villages of Sambhave, Mulshi Khurd, Male, Jamgaon and Disli.

The objective of this checkup camp was to examine the oral hygiene of the school children and diagnose the dental problems faced by them. . Most of the students were also diagnosed for Materia Alba, food debris, carious teeth, and calculus. Post the dental checkup, majority of the children were advised to undergo further treatment of cleaning of teeth, filling of teeth, removal of teeth etc. The children were referred to Bharti Vidyapeeth, Lavale Hospital  where they will avail free treatment.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Mahesh Paranjpe- Chief Hydros, Tata Power, said “It’s our endeavour to improve the quality of life of our communities through the various Health Care initiatives we undertake from time to time. We are delighted with the positive response received from the school children for this dental check camp. We would continue to undertake such initiatives in the future and contribute to the well-being of the communities”.

The Dental Checkup Camp was conducted in collaboration with Bharati Vidhyapeeth University, Social Science Centre, Pune. A team of 8 Dentists from Department of Public Health Dentistry, Bharati Vidhyapeeth University, Katraj provided their technical assistance for conducting the camp.
