TEAMLEASE SERVICES PARTNERS WITH MAHARASHTRA STATE BOARD OF SECONDARY AND HIGHER SECONDARY EDUCATION 

~To offer vocational training courses across 56 schools in the state~

Mumbai, November 17, 2015: TeamLease Services, India’s largest staffing solution company today announced that they have entered into a partnership with the Secondary Education Department, Government of Maharashtra. As part of the collaboration TeamLease Services will assist the state government to offer vocational training programmes commissioned under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme. In the initial phase, TeamLease will provide certificate courses for Store Operations Assistant, Cashier, Trainee Sales Associate and Sale Associate across 56 schools in the state.

Commenting on the association, Ms. Neeti Sharma, Senior Vice President TeamLease Services said “We are proud to partner with the Secondary Education Department of Maharashtra in their efforts to improve the skill quotient of its youth.”

“Youth unemployability is a far greater problem than unemployment. It calls for not just last mile repair programmes but an integrated curriculum right from the school level. With this initiative we will be able to skill and train around 5200 students in the retail sector across Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and Latur divisions in the next four year.” added Neeti Sharma.

With an annual Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 16.7 per cent, the retail industry is expected to grow to US$ 1.3 trillion by 2020. The employment base for this sector is expected to reach 56 million by 2022 making it one of the biggest job creators. However, lack of skilled talent is a concern. The objective of the partnership is to provide students with systematic training and thereby assist them to take advantage of the opportunities in the sector. Developed in conjunction with NSDC, the curriculum has employers at the heart of the programmes. It uses a multi-modal training approach combining both theory and practical exposure. Integrated into the regular curriculum, the courses are for students from class IX to XII.
